Reflect Upon a Time When You Remembered, and Truly Applied, a Spiritual Principle Within an Intimate Relationship (Spouse, Partner, Friend, Family Member)

  • What did you do?
  • What happened?
  • What was your lesson(s)?
  • Have you done it since?

Spirituality is not separate from our intimate relationships.

Spirituality is not separate from our intimate relationships. There is no separation between the divine and the profane. The line is only in our minds. Every moment, no matter where we are or whom we’re with, is an opportunity for spiritual growth.

The way the body is designed, we can’t see our own faces. We can’t see our facial expressions, the look in our eyes, our non-verbal cues — all the physical signs that point to what is happening within — unless we look in a mirror. We all have our own blind spots. Blind spots are actually spiritual opportunities — places to grow that we haven’t already seen. One way to become aware of these precious opportunities is through our loved ones, who can serve as our mirrors.

A spiritual partner can hold up the mirror for us. Through deep mutual respect and clear communication, a spiritual partner can help us develop in ways we could otherwise never have.

(Click here to listen to “Love Pulls Us Through,” which reminds us that in relationships, it’s not just about trusting our partners, but trusting ourselves)

Living in integrity and truth in relationship is spiritual. Putting aside our own needs for others and ardent commitment to working through tough issues is spiritual.
